CAD DRAFTING NOTICE
  1. CTS provides CAD drafting services. CTS does NOT perform design, engineering, architectural etc services of any kind and accepts no responsibility or liability for the technical correctness of the engineering, architectural, design, etc information found on any drawings or documents it (CTS) produces from services it (CTS) performs. CTS only provides electronic CAD drafting, ie the transfer of the information provided by the customer to electronic "CAD" format.

  2. CTS' guarantee and liability is limited to correctly changing and/or adding any text or graphics information it (CTS) incorrectly drafted or omitted. In this instance there will be no additional charge to the customer provided all of the correct information to perform the CAD drafting services was provided to CTS prior to the commencement of the work.

  3. All drawings will be electronically drafted into CAD format to duplicate original (supplied by customer) as closely as possible unless otherwise instructed by the customer. CTS does NOT guarantee exact or perfect duplication of line work (of text and graphics) but will provide a reasonable facsimile of the drawings or documents provided by the customer unless otherwise agreed to in writing by the customer and CTS.

  4. It is incumbent upon the customer to provide all detailed instructions and specifications (eg scale, if any, layering, due date, fonts, software and version to be used by CTS, media, etc) in writing to CTS and/or as a "Prototype Drawing File".   . Where there are no specific, written instructions, CTS, at its own discretion, will perform CAD Drafting Services using its own software, methods, and conventions. CTS further assumes the customer's authorization to use its (CTS') own drafting conventions and methods. In these cases, changes by the customer may, at CTS' discretion, result in additional fees due CTS for original and/or revised drawings.

  5. When information on drawings and documents is not clearly legible, CTS will make its best educated interpretation(s) of the information and draft it as correctly as possible.

  6. DIMENSIONAL ACCURACY I: Standard: Drawings are NOT drawn to scale (within the CAD Program) unless specified in writing by the customer. This simply means that the drawings are not "keyed in" with specific dimensions from "scratch".   Instead, they are electronically "screen traced" (with AutoCAD or MicroStation) by using  scans of the customer's hard copy drawings as the electronic background images to be drawn.   . The resulting "CAD" files are a careful replication of the original(s) and reasonably accurate (not exact) to the degree of accuracy of the drawing information supplied to it (CTS) by the customer. Accuracy of CAD drawings when created by the "Screen Tracing" method is dependent on:
    1. Accuracy of original draftsperson who created the hard copy to be scanned;
    2. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of original to be scanned;
    3. Scanner accuracy, adjustment, and calibration;
    4. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of plot of CAD file;
    5. Accuracy of CAD operator;
    6. Accuracy of software and hardware used. The lowest level (CAD Drafting Level I-A with SCANNING LEVEL "A") of accuracy will be used unless written contract specifies otherwise. "To scale" drawings will be accurate to the degree specified in the specific contract and will not exceed the accuracy of the information supplied or available to CTS.

  7. ACCURACY II: Maps do not meet National Map Accuracy Standards or any other accuracy or other standards unless specifically stated in the contract. Architectural, engineering, and all other types of drawings do not meet any specific accuracy standards or any other standards unless specifically stated in the contract.

  8. CTS' CAD drafting is considered "CORRECT" if it (CTS) duplicates line work of drawings provided to it by the customer per customer instructions (if any) per contract/purchase order. Changes (except typographical errors of text and/or graphics by CTS) or revisions to this information or to any correctly drafted information by the customer are subject to possible additional fees to be paid by the customer.

  9. CTS will provide its own quality assurance checking. CTS' customer accepts ultimate responsibility for checking work. If CTS is not notified within seven (7) working days after delivery of project, the Customer accepts work as correct per contract/customer's purchase order and CTS' contract.

  10. Customer accepts full responsibility for violation of any Copyrights.

  11. The customer indemnifies and holds CTS Harmless for any errors, omissions, and losses etc.

CAD Drafting Accuracy Level IS BASED on Scanning Accuracy Level (Below) (Choose (check) Only One: Level “I-A”, “I-B”, or “I-C”:
Check ONLY One (1) of the Levels Below and Fill In Here: CAD Drafting Accuracy Level: Will be Used for Project:

CAD DRAFTING ACCURACY LEVEL I-A: "Screen Tracing" with CAD of "Level “A" scanned Images. "Close To Original Scanned Document" / "Not to Scale", CAD drafting using SCANNING LEVEL "A " and screen tracing with software calibration of scanner only. Goal: To create a new CAD file with reasonable (Approximate) graphical representation of the image(s) scanned with no need or requirement for "to scale" or very accurate drawings. Drafting Accuracy is dependent on: 1. SCANNING LEVEL "A" accuracy. 2. Accuracy of CAD draftsperson performing screen tracing; 3. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of plot of CAD file. CAD Drafting LEVEL I with SCANNING LEVEL "A" Accuracy will be used unless otherwise stipulated in writing between CTS and customer.

CAD DRAFTING ACCURACY LEVEL I-B: "Closest (But NOT) To Original Intended Scale of Scanned Document": CAD drafting using SCANNING LEVEL "B" plus screen tracing with software calibration of scanner plus testing and correction of scanned image for distortion prior to creation of CAD file(s) when usable dimensions ARE available. Goal: To create a new CAD file with the best graphical duplication of the image(s) scanned with no need or requirement for "to scale" drawings within the CAD program. Plots of these files Accuracy is dependent on: 1. Accuracy of original draftsperson who created the hard copy to be scanned; 2. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of original to be scanned; 3. Scanner accuracy, adjustment, and calibration; 4. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of plot of CAD file; 5. Accuracy of CAD operator; 6. Accuracy of all software and hardware used.

CAD DRAFTING ACCURACY LEVEL I-C: "Screen Tracing" with CAD of "LevelÚ"C" scanned images. "Close To Original Scanned Document" / "Not to Scale": CAD drafting using SCANNING LEVEL "C" and screen tracing when NO usable dimensions are available . Goal: To create a new CAD file with the best graphical duplication of the image(s) scanned when NO usable dimensions are available with no need or requirement for "to scale" drawings within the CAD program. Accuracy is dependent on: 1. Accuracy of SCANNING LEVEL "C"; 2. 5. Accuracy of CAD operator; 3. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of plots.

CAD DRAFTING LEVEL II: "Not to Scale", direct drafting into CAD, no scanning, no "digitizing tablet tracing". Goal: To create a new CAD file with reasonable graphical representation of object(s) with no need or requirement for "to scale" drawings. Accuracy is dependent on: 1. Accuracy of sketches and other data provided to CTS to be used to create drawings. 2. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of plot of CAD file; 3. Accuracy of CAD operator; 4. Accuracy of all software and hardware used.

CAD DRAFTING LEVEL III: "To scale", direct drafting into CAD, no scanning, no "digitizing tablet tracing". Goal: To create a new CAD file with the highest level of dimensional accuracy within the CAD program. Accuracy is dependent on: 1. Accuracy of field data, sketches and other data provided to CTS to be used to create drawings. 2. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of plot of CAD file; 3. Accuracy of CAD operator; 4. Accuracy of all software and hardware used.

SCANNING (W/Drafting) ACCURACY STATEMENT
(Must Be Completed and Signed When Scanning is used for Drafting Services)

SCANNING ACCURACY STATEMENT (Choose (check) Only One: Level "A", "B", or "C":
Check ONLY One (1) of the Levels Below and Fill in Here: Accuracy Level: Will be used for Project:

LEVEL "A": "Close To Original Scanned Document" / "Not to Scale", SCANNING using direct, full sheet scanning with scanner software calibration only. Goal: To create a high quality scan with reasonable graphical representation of the image(s) scanned with no need or requirement for "to scale" or very accurate drawing scans. Level "A" SCANNING Accuracy is dependent on: 1. Accuracy of original draftsperson who created the hard copy to be scanned; 2. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of original to be scanned; 3. Scanner accuracy, adjustment, and calibration; 4. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of plot of SCANNED Image; 5. Accuracy of all software and hardware used. SCANNING LEVEL "A" Accuracy will be used unless otherwise stipulated in writing between CTS and customer. NOTE: No SCANNED Image is an EXACT Duplicate of the Scanned Original.

LEVEL "B" : "Close (But Not) To Intended Scale of Original Scanned Document". Scanning with software calibration of scanner plus testing and correction of scanned image for distortion prior to creation of final Scanned Image(s) "when drawing dimensions ARE available and considered to be correct" Goal: To create a scanned image with the best graphical duplication of the image(s) scanned with best possible adjustment of scanned raster image to match intended scale of the scanned original. This method provides the most accurate scanned image available but still does not yield a true "To scale" drawing. This method involves: 1. Scanning the drawing or document; 2. Bringing the drawing up in AutoCAD; 3. Drawing with CAD known, dimensioned entities in the scanned image to scale in CAD; 4. Matching the "To Scale" CAD drawn entities to the same information on the scanned image; 5. Calculating the "X" and "Y" differences between the CAD drawn information and same scanned raster entities; 6. Adjusting the scanned raster image to match the CAD data as closely as possible. Level "B" SCANNING Accuracy is dependent on: 1. Accuracy of original draftsperson who created the hard copy to be scanned; 2. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of original to be scanned; 3. Scanner accuracy, adjustment, and calibration; 4. Accuracy of measurements of differences in No. 5 above; 5. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of all plots of SCANNED Image(s). 6. Accuracy of all software and hardware used. "X" and "Y" Adjustments as follows:
  1. Number of Measurements in "X" Direction = 2 when possible or:
  2. Number of Measurements in "Y" Direction = 2 when possible or:
    NOTE: No SCANNED Image is an EXACT Duplicate of the Scanned Original.

LEVEL "C" : "Closer To Original Scanned Document" / "Not to Scale", SCANNING with software calibration of scanner plus testing and correction of scanned image for distortion. "When drawing dimensions are NOT available. Goal: To create a scanned image with the best graphical duplication of the image(s) scanned with best possible adjustment of scanned raster image to match the original document or drawing to be scanned. This method provides the most accurate (close to the original to be scanned) scanned image available when NO dimensions are available but still does not yield a true "To scale" drawing. This method involves: 1. Scanning the drawing or document; 2. Bringing the drawing up in AutoCAD; 3. Drawing major "base" entities in the scanned image with CAD; 4. Plotting the CAD Drawing of the major "base" entities; 5. Matching the plot of the CAD generated, major "base" entities to those same entities on the original drawing that was scanned; 6. Calculating the difference between the CAD drawn information and the same scanned raster entities; 7. Adjusting the scanned raster image to match the plotted CAD data as closely as possible. Level "C" SCANNING Accuracy is dependent on: 1. Accuracy of original draftsperson who created the hard copy to be scanned; 2. Accuracy, movement, and distortion of original to be scanned; 3. Scanner accuracy, adjustment, and calibration; 4. Accuracy of measurements of differences in No. 5 above plus distortion of test plot; 5.
